Fort Oscar From 1 November, the gendarmerie brigade will be located within the grounds of Fort Oscar overlooking the port of Gustavia. Owned by the Ministry of Defence, the site had been home since the late 1970s to the listening station of the DGSE (Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure, in other words the French counter-intelligence service). At the end of an era when the fort and its surroundings were strictly prohibited, the department decided to completely close the station last June. The satellite dishes have been dismantled, the equipment disconnected and everything is still stored in a room that the Ministry reserves for itself. He granted most of the site to the gendarmerie brigade, relieved to finally find a solution to its problem of lack of space in Corossol's premises. Adaptation work is currently being carried out to set up 6 separate and closed offices and two cells. Adjacent to the fort are eight villas in which DGSE staff were housed and which were assigned to the gendarmes and their families. The brigade consists of twelve gendarmes, four of whom are "mobile gendarmes" on mission on the island for three months and housed in civilian houses. To get to the gendarmerie, it will now be necessary to go to Gustavia and take the
